Biography: Personality

PERSONALITY BIO.

The stereotype about Southern women (or women in general, for that matter) being weak and fragile, fainting on couches? Definitely not Alice; the woman’s about as fragile as a coal truck, and about as resilient as one to boot.

She was raised to behave lady-like, but it doesn’t always work out; Alice is a bit too much of a tomboy to be able to pull it off for long, though she does make more of an effort when meeting someone new. Otherwise, she doesn’t try very hard; she’ll be polite, yes, but one can’t expect her to always act how etiquette would require her to. As an example; most (if not all) lessons to be a lady have some note about not wearing certain clothes, whereas Alice scoffs at such things and would instead wear whatever she liked, however revealing or conservative it was. She’s quite comfortable in her body, for the most part, and so she’s long ago decided she’ll do what she wished with it.

Of course, while she’s not always the most lady-like person around, she fancies her femininity and will fully expect men to hold doors open for her, carry her belongings for her, pull a chair out for her, and compliment her. While she’s feminist in philosophy, it’ll be a very cold day in hell before she gives up the few benefits chivalry has given her. She considers this behavior the respect she deserves.

Though she’s normally comfortable in her own skin, the media’s constant messages about thinness do make her feel a little shy sometimes when it comes to that fat that tends to stick to her hips. This usually doesn’t last very long, however; she knows how to pick her mood back up instead of letting herself stay down. However, she has been known to put her own needs aside when taking care of her family members, though she never seems to give it much thought. As long as she’s able to help her loved ones, she doesn’t mind very much; she knows she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself, and isn’t too proud to ask for a little help if she needs it. She enjoys helping others, actually, and can often be found doing volunteer work when not doing governmental work.

Alice’s a very active woman, for that matter. She loathes having to stay in meetings or do much paperwork, and instead would much rather be hiking, biking, kayaking, or going to one of the shops or restaurants or other venues around Reno, where she usually lives. When asked, she’s often happy to do any activity from cooking meals to singing in the choir, especially if it gets her out of the office. She’s often quite eager to try something new, often saying “it’s not a sin to make a mistake, but it is one to not try”, and is quick to grow bored with routines.

Of course, her and Aaron are very alike in their love of the “graces” of life; cut crystal and polished silver and fine china, often accented by fresh-cut flowers from her gardens while serving meals taught to her as a child. Likewise, she cares much for her appearance, though she doesn’t do much “eliminate the negative”, as the saying goes. She’d rather accept she is how she is, and treat it all as a positive to be accentuated, whether it’s her eyes or her scars. Of course, she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get her hands a little dirty either.

Though she’s been known to be headstrong, Alice is more even-tempered than Aaron and is more compassionate and caring. She always seems interested in how others are doing and if there’s anything she can do to make things better. Though it’s a tad difficult to get her angry rather than merely mildly annoyed, once it’s done she’s often a little too quick to give forgiveness and try to make things right; a trait she picked up after the Civil War.

After all, no one is perfect and sometimes you just have to let things go.
